Pak army targets forward posts in Ballakote and Shahpur Poonch….
Poonch, Dec 9 (HS): After a lull of three days, the Pakistan army today once again violated ceasefire in the Balakote sector of Poonch District by shelling mortars on army forward posts and residential areas.
Shakeel Ahmed a local resident said Pakistan army resorted to heavy mortar shelling targeting forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakote sector of Poonch district. He said this afternoon all of a sudden Pakistani army resorted to heavy shelling in our village that spread a sense of insecurity among the villagers.
Army said Pakistan violated ceasefire by resorting to light weapons shelling and firing along the LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch district.
Police said this afternoon at around 12.50 PM, Pakistani army opened unprovoked fire on civilian areas and Indian forward posts along LoC in Balakote sector. Police further added that this evening at around 3.55 PM Pakistani army also fired in the Shahpur sector of Poonch District.
Defense PRO Col. Devinder Anand said this afternoon that the Pakistani army fired 04 mortars in the Balakote sector of district Poonch (J&K). He said Indian Army did not retaliate on the issue of a ceasefire violation in Shahpur. He further said this evening Pakistani army violated ceasefire in Shahpur to which the Indian army was giving the befitting reply.
