Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire agreement on Tuesday by intruding into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. Troops from the Nangi Tekri Battalion, under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, retaliated swiftly. An Indian Army official confirmed the response.

“On April 1, a mine blast occurred in the Krishna Ghati Sector due to Pakistan Army’s intrusion across the Line of Control. This was followed by unprovoked firing and a ceasefire violation. Our troops responded in a controlled and calibrated manner. The situation remains under control and closely monitored,” the official stated.

The Indian Army emphasized the importance of maintaining the 2021 DGsMO agreement to uphold peace along the border. However, tensions escalated further due to ongoing counter-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Security forces had already launched a major operation in the Panjtirthi area of Kathua after spotting suspicious movement on March 31. The Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF acted swiftly, leading to an exchange of fire with terrorists.

As the situation intensified, security forces launched a search-and-destroy mission at first light on April 1. Based on intelligence inputs, multiple surveillance teams and ambush units were deployed. Authorities heightened the alert level, ensuring continuous monitoring of the region.

The Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the coordinated operation. “Acting on intelligence, multiple surveillance and ambush units were deployed in Panjtirthi, Kathua. Suspicious movement was detected on the night of March 31, triggering an exchange of fire. Search-and-destroy operations commenced at first light on April 1. The operation remains ongoing,” the statement read.

This latest ceasefire violation and terror activity underscore the ongoing security challenges along the Line of Control. Indian forces continue to remain vigilant, ensuring swift action against any threats.
