Orry, 7 others booked for drinking near Vaishno Devi; J&K Police vow tough action

J&K Police booked Bollywood socialite Orhan Awatramani, known as Orry, and seven others for allegedly drinking near the Vaishno Devi shrine. Authorities registered an FIR on Monday, citing violations of religious norms in Katra’s restricted zone.
According to ANI, police identified the accused as Orry, Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Russian national Anastasila Arzamaskina. They allegedly consumed alcohol at a hotel in Katra’s Cottage Suit area, where intoxicants and non-vegetarian food are strictly banned due to the shrine’s religious significance.
Officials formed a special team under SP Katra, Dy SP Katra, and SHO Katra to investigate. The police plan to issue notices summoning all accused, including Orry, for questioning. SSP Reasi emphasized that authorities will take strict action against anyone violating religious sanctity by consuming alcohol or drugs near the temple.
The controversy erupted after reports surfaced of the group drinking in Katra, a gateway town to the revered Vaishno Devi temple. Devotees consider the shrine one of Hinduism’s holiest sites, drawing millions of pilgrims annually. Religious guidelines prohibit alcohol and non-vegetarian food in the area to maintain its sanctity.
Local authorities acted swiftly after receiving complaints. They reviewed surveillance footage and collected witness statements before filing the FIR. The case has sparked outrage among devotees, who demand strict punishment for those involved.
Orry, a well-known social media influencer, often appears alongside Bollywood celebrities. He shares close ties with Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Urvashi Rautela, and Bhumi Pednekar. His high-profile presence at Bollywood events has earned him a massive following, making this incident even more controversial.
This is not the first time authorities have cracked down on rule violations near Vaishno Devi. In previous instances, police took strict action against similar offenses to preserve the shrine’s religious environment. The government remains firm on ensuring no one disrupts the spiritual atmosphere of the pilgrimage site.
As the investigation progresses, police will question all accused and verify evidence before taking further legal steps. The case has fueled public discussions about the responsibilities of influencers and celebrities when visiting religious places. Many argue that high-profile individuals should set an example by respecting local traditions and laws.
The controversy continues to unfold as authorities tighten regulations and maintain vigilance around Vaishno Devi. Pilgrims and religious groups have urged law enforcement to impose severe penalties to deter future violations. Police assure that justice will be served and the sanctity of the shrine upheld.
For now, Orry and the other accused face legal consequences for their actions. The case highlights the importance of respecting cultural and religious sensitivities, especially in sacred places. Authorities warn that any future infractions will result in immediate and strict legal action.
