Novak Djokovic donated 1 million euros to fight COVID-19

Madrid,28 March(HS): Novak Djokovic, the world’s number one tennis player, has decided to donate 1 million euros (about 8.2 crore rupees), contributing to this fight against Coronavirus. He will give this donation to his country Serbia to buy health equipment.
Djokovic is currently stranded in Spain due to Coronavirus and in an interview to a Serbian news channel, he said, “I want to thank all the medical staff around the world who are helping to fight this epidemic.”
He said, “It is unfortunate that everyday people are getting infected by this. Me and my wife Yelena are planning how we can use our resources to help people.”
Coronavirus, originating from the city of Wuhan in China, has killed more than 27000 people worldwide so far. At the same time, the death toll in Serbia is 7 and more than 400 people are still infected by it.
