North East Small Finance Bank (NESFB) making inroads among rural populace
Udalguri, May.31 (HS): The North East Small Finance Bank (NESFB) Limited which has completed its one year service in its Tangla branch is making inroads among the small entrepreneurs and traders involved in animal husbandry, weaving, tea garden related business in the region which has been instrumental in extending credit which is an important instrument for rural development.
The branch organized a ceremonious event on Thursday to celebrate its one year of existence and apprise the customers on the wide array of banking services. The event was graced as guests by retired Principal of Tangla College,Ramakanta Borah; Retired Prof. Ghanakanta Deka,HoD of History,Tangla College, Chandan Baruah. Speaking, as a guest, Chandan Baruah said it is good sign that small regional private sector banks are making banking services accessible to the rural populace and small traders.
“Though people of the state lost faith in small micro-finance companies after they were cheated by chit-fund companies NESFB Ltd. is a recognized bank by RBI operating across northeastern states which will go way long in breaking the conventional banking systems” Baruah added.
Addressing the gathering Branch Manager, Hemanta Kumar Sarma said, ” We are bank for the people of the lower strata of the society who are often subjected to long procedures for availing banking services.
“He further stated that through some innovative and pro-customer services like Daily Deposit Scheme(DDS) and Entrepreneur Developmental Loan(EDL), Micro-Business Loan even people of BPL families are extended loans without any hassle.
