Nokia shuts its plant following pandemic alert
Chennai,27 May(HS): Nokia, the multinational giant has suspended its operations at its telecoms gear manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu after as many as 42 of its employees tested positive for coronavirus, the company spokesperson said.
Nokia had begun operations in a restricted manner post lockdown over the past few weeks after the central government eased the lockdown to kick-start its economy which has been badly affected by the nationwide shutdown.
It may be recalled that the Chinese smartphone maker OPPO also suspended operations at the plant on the outskirts of New Delhi after at least nine workers tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
