Los Angeles, Jan 28 (HS): The plane, which crashed early Monday in Deh Yak district of Taliban-controlled Ghazni province was an American military ‘ aircraft, not an Afghanistan airline.

Initially, it was described as the passenger plane of the Afghanistan airline. There were reports of 80 passengers in this accident. On Monday, US Defense Minister Mark Asper told the media that he was aware of the circumstances related to the aircraft, but could not provide any details.

Meanwhile, the US military has confirmed that it was one of the four bombarded aircraft in the US, the E-11, equipped with state-of-the-art communications equipment. It was deployed in Afghanistan so that it could maintain constant contact with its aircraft and military personnel on land and skies.

According to the official, Col. Sonny Leggett, said that the military plane, a Bombardier E-11A crashed in the Ghazni province and an investigation of its causes was ongoing. The aircraft had about half a dozen crew members, while this two-engine aircraft has only two crews. Nothing is known about these crew members.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed on Twitter that an “enemy intelligence aircraft” crashed and subsequently told The Washington Post that “our mujahideen [fighters] tactically crashed the plane.” He did not explain what tactics were purportedly used to bring down the plane.
