Nine migrants die in bus-truck collision in Bihar

Patna 19 May (HS): At least nine migrant labourers died and many wounded on Tuesday morning near Naugachia under Bhagalpur division in Bihar. A truck loaded with iron rods and a passenger bus collided head on near Kharik village on NH 31. Some migrant labourers were also riding the truck. IN the collision the truck overturned and fell into a ditch killing at least nine people. Police sources said the death toll could go up as some bodies were apprehended to be crushed under the piles of iron rods. The labourers on the truck took lift after reaching Naugachia by Shramik train.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his deep sorrow over the accident and announced Rs 4 lakh ex gratia to the kin of all the nine deceased people. He directed the officials for better treatment of all the injured persons and take them to theirm respective homes after treatment.

Once again Nitish appealed to the migrant workers and other returning to Bihar not to come on foot, bicycles, along railway tracks or by trucks as the government has been making all necessary arrangements for their safe return by trains.
