NIA takes charge of investigation of fake sim card network, 9 arrested so far.
New Delhi, Jan 22 (HS): The investigation of the fake SIM card network case of Tamil Nadu has now been taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Tamil Nadu Branch police investigating this case. So far 9 accused have been arrested from Chennai and Bengaluru in fake SIM card network cases.
Police said that people connected to a fake sim card network had delivered 35 sim cards to the suspected terrorists. The same suspects killed SSI Wilson on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.
Sources said that the same gang had supplied fake SIM cards to the suspected terrorists. NIA sources have revealed that Liaquat Ali, one of the arrested accused, has also admitted that SIM cards were activated for illegal activities of his colleague Khwaja Moeedin and jihad by other radicals activities.
Recently, in the Kanyakumari district, the special sub-inspector (ASI) of the Kaliyakkavilai police station, Wilson got a major breakthrough when the police arrested the terrorists Tofiq and Shamim, the ISIS suspects who killed Wilson.
Both of them were identified by CCTV footage. In CCTV, both of them were seen running after the murder. Along with them, suspected ISIS terrorist Mehboob has also been arrested.
Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that two suspects have been arrested from Kerala. He was arrested from the Udupi railway station.
