A shocking crime has surfaced from Lucknow. A 21-year-old man shot his father dead after repeated arguments over NEET exam preparation. Later, he cut the body into pieces and hid it inside a drum at their home.

Police identified the victim as Manvendra Pratap Singh, 50. He owned Vardhman Pathology in the city. On February 20, family members filed a missing person’s report when he suddenly disappeared. Soon after, police began a search.

During the investigation, officers questioned Singh’s son, Akshat Pratap. At first, he tried to avoid direct answers. However, sustained questioning made him break down. Eventually, he confessed to killing his father.

According to police, tension had been building inside the house for months. Singh often pushed his son to prepare seriously for the NEET competitive exam. Akshat had passed Class 12 with Biology and later enrolled in BCom. However, he did not want to pursue medical studies. Frequent scolding led to repeated clashes between father and son.

DCP Vikrant Veer said an intense argument broke out on February 20. The dispute again centered on exam preparation. In a fit of anger, Akshat picked up a rifle and shot his father. The bullet caused fatal injuries.

After the shooting, Akshat tried to cover up the crime. First, he dragged the body from the third floor to a vacant room on the ground floor. Then, he attempted to destroy evidence. He cut the body into pieces. Later, he disposed of some parts near Sadarona village. He hid the remaining parts inside a drum kept at home.

Police recovered the body parts from the drum during a search operation. Officers also found some remains on the ground floor of the house. Senior officials reached the spot immediately after the discovery.

Meanwhile, a forensic team examined the crime scene. Experts collected samples and documented evidence. Investigators sealed key areas of the house for further examination.

Akshat lived in the house with his father and sister. His mother died in 2018. After her death, Singh took charge of the family and business. Over time, he reportedly increased pressure on his son to secure a stable career through medical studies.

Police have taken Akshat into custody. Officers continue to interrogate him to understand the full sequence of events. Authorities plan to file charges under relevant sections of the law. They have assured strict legal action.

Singh’s relatives gathered at the house after news of the murder spread. The incident has shocked neighbors and local residents. Many described the family as quiet and private.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination. The report will help confirm the exact cause of death and timeline. Investigators will also examine the weapon used in the crime.

This case highlights the intense pressure many students face over competitive exams. However, authorities have urged families to resolve conflicts through dialogue rather than confrontation. As the investigation continues, police aim to complete all legal formalities and present the case before the court.
