NDA surge triggers early celebrations across Bihar as counting continues
Patna – Patna witnessed loud celebrations on Friday as the NDA surged ahead in the 2025 Bihar assembly election. Supporters filled the streets with dhol, firecrackers, and trays of ladoos. They waved flags and hugged each other as early trends showed the alliance racing toward a massive lead. By noon, the NDA tally crossed the halfway mark and moved close to 200 seats. Yet, officials reminded voters that several rounds of counting remained and numbers could shift.
Meanwhile, New Delhi also tracked the developments closely. A chariot with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s face rolled through crowded lanes. Banners praising Nitish Kumar surfaced near party offices. Supporters cheered the early numbers with confidence, while analysts noted the sharp jump in the NDA’s lead during the first few hours of counting.
Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) produced a significant comeback. At 1 pm, the JDU led on 79 of the 101 seats it contested. The Bharatiya Janata Party led on 90 seats and strengthened the coalition’s position. If these trends hold, the NDA will return to power with Nitish Kumar as chief minister again. He remains the longest-serving holder of the post and continues to dominate the political landscape of Bihar.
In Patna, celebrations intensified near the chief minister’s residence. A new hoarding read, “Bihar Ka Matlab Nitish Kumar.” Supporters burst firecrackers, distributed sweets, and danced in groups. Some offered ladoos to Nitish Kumar’s poster and chanted slogans praising his leadership. Party workers carried JDU flags and swayed to the beats of the dhol.
JDU leader Chotu Singh expressed confidence. He said the people of Bihar voted for development and trusted Nitish Kumar. He added that supporters would celebrate the moment like Holi and Diwali. His remarks reflected the rising energy among party workers as more results arrived.
Another JDU leader blew a conch shell outside the party office, marking the party’s excitement. Crowds gathered around him and cheered. Posters declared, “2025 ke bhi nayak honge Nitish.” The message signaled that supporters viewed Nitish as the face of stability and governance.
As celebrations continued, senior leaders explained the significance of the early trends. They said the people rewarded the NDA for welfare schemes and administrative stability. They credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar for shaping the alliance’s strategy and vote base. One leader told PTI that voters trusted the development work done in the last term and chose continuity.
However, election officials urged caution. They said final results would arrive only in the evening. Counting teams continued their work in district centers across the state. Each round could shift the numbers in closely contested seats. Still, the general mood in Patna and other cities leaned toward an NDA victory.
Thus, Bihar moved through a dramatic afternoon. Crowds celebrated. Parties evaluated trends. And the NDA drove toward forming the next government, even as counting continued and final figures awaited confirmation.
