Patna — The NDA scored a sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. The alliance crossed 202 seats and turned the race into a one-sided contest. The BJP won 89 seats. JD(U) under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar secured 85 seats. LJP-RV led by Chirag Paswan added 19 seats. Smaller allies completed the tally and cemented the NDA’s majority.

Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan suffered a heavy blow. The alliance won only 35 seats. The RJD ended with 25 seats. Congress managed six seats. Left parties and other partners added small numbers but failed to stay competitive. The result marks a setback for Tejashwi Yadav, who hoped to revive the Mahagathbandhan’s influence.

Moreover, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party failed to make an entry. The party claimed to offer a fresh alternative, yet it ended at zero seats. Voters did not respond to its campaign even in regions where Kishor toured extensively.

The NDA also dominated the vote share. The alliance secured 46.52%. The Mahagathbandhan followed with 37.64%. Within the NDA, the BJP held 20.08%, JD(U) captured 19.26%, LJP-RV received 4.97%, HAM(S) gained 1.18% and RLM took 1.03%. On the opposition side, the RJD secured 23% and Congress got 8.71%. The Left parties managed 4.18%. VIP received 1.38%, and IIP ended with 0.37%. Congress narrowly escaped its worst-ever tally. The RJD matched its earlier low from 2010.

As results became clear, celebrations erupted across Patna. Party workers burst crackers, beat drums and waved flags. The NDA leadership then addressed supporters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday evening. He praised the people of Bihar for choosing development. He also congratulated Nitish Kumar for leading the state through years of administrative reform.

PM Modi said Bihar rejected the “communal MY formula” associated with the RJD. He referred to what he called the politics of division and the memory of “jungle raj.” He said voters endorsed governance, stability and long-term growth. He invoked “Chhathi Maiya” and described the mandate as a blessing for the state’s future.

Nitish Kumar also addressed the media in Patna. He thanked voters for giving the NDA a decisive mandate. He promised to make Bihar one of India’s most developed states. He said his government would speed up road projects, strengthen health services and expand job opportunities. He also said the administration would improve law and order and encourage investments.

The chief minister highlighted past progress. He said Bihar improved school enrollment, boosted power supply and expanded welfare programmes. He argued that voters rewarded consistent delivery. He also said the new mandate gives the government the confidence to plan bigger projects.

As celebrations continued, security teams maintained order in major cities. The Election Commission compiled final numbers and briefed political representatives. With the verdict now settled, all eyes remain on the next government and the pace of implementation in the months ahead.
