Murray endorsed Roger Federer to combine men’s and women’s
New York,02 May(HS): Two-time Olympic champion Britain’s Andy Murray backed Roger Federer’s talk of combining men’s and women’s tours, saying that many top players believe it would be a positive step for tennis.
Speaking to CNN on Friday, Murray said, “When a lot of your top male players are starting to discuss it, it is definitely very promising.”
“When these discussions take place, it is not necessary that this merger be viewed from a man’s perspective, while more and more women should also be brought to a decision-making position so that everyone’s voice can be heard,” he said.
In fact, there is an ongoing international debate about a unified tour, after which 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer wrote the tweet last month, “Just wondering if I’m the only one who thinks men and women’s tennis should be together and everyone should come together and come forward. ”
There were different reactions from the tennis world on this subject. While many players along with veteran Rafael Nadal supported this, Nick Kyrgios of Australia did not take long to dismiss the idea.
