New Delhi,18 May(HS): Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian cricket team, has termed Venkatesh Prasad taking the wicket of Pakistan opener Aamir Sohail in the 1996 World Cup as one of the most memorable moments in cricket history.
Kohli said this while talking to Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri on Instagram.
The quarter-final match of the 1996 World Cup was played between India and Pakistan in Bengaluru. In this match, Ajay Jadeja had scored 45 runs in only 25 balls. On the basis of Jadeja’s innings, team India reached a challenging score of 287.
When Pakistan’s batting started, Aamir Sohail (55) and Saeed Anwar (48) also shared 84 for the first wicket. After Anwar’s dismissal, Sohail along with Ajaj Ahmed took the team score to 100.
Meanwhile, in Venkatesh Prasad’s over, Sohail hit a four and pointed out that such a ball would hit for four, but on the next ball, Prasad bowled Sohail and showed him the path to the pavilion. This incident also became a golden memory.
Chhetri asked Kohli, “Where were you when Aamir hit Prasad’s ball for four and said something and then Prasad blew his stumps?”
Kohli said, “I was at home. I celebrated, in the same way, I believe today. Nothing could be more satisfying for me in the history of clean bold. One of the most memorable moments of the game. “
“No Indian can forget that day whether he is a cricket fan or not,” Chhetri said.
Chhetri then asked Kohli about his favourite footballer, to which Kohli said that Cristiano Ronaldo is his favourite footballer and he likes him a lot.
Chhetri asks Kohli which player in his team is not good at football. So Kohli took the name of Kuldeep Yadav.
Talking about Kuldeep, Kohli said, “He is a big fan of football, especially Neymar. He can have a long conversation about it because he has a lot of knowledge. He can play very well online but he can’t play well on the field.”
