Modi slams those who damaged public property during CAA protests.,

Lucknow/New Delhi, Dec 26 (HS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday slammed the people who damaged public property during the nationwide protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He said that the people should understand that rights and duties go hand in hand.
“Not to forget that rights and duties go hand in hand,” said the PM adding,  “I want to ask those who damaged the public property, were they right in doing so? Whatever was torched or damaged, was it not for their children’s use?” asked Modi.
The country witnessed nationwide protests to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) during which several public properties were torched and damaged by the protesters. In Uttar Pradesh itself, as many as 15 people were killed and 265 policemen were injured in riots like situation protesting the act.
Modi said that it was the duty of 130 crore people of the country “to save the dignity of the daughters” of those people who have come from Afghanistan Pakistan and Bangladesh as refugees. “Now they are not refugees, they are Indian citizens and with this self-confidence, Hindustanis are entering into a new decade. Whatever is left to be done,  it’s the responsibility of all 130 crore Indian citizens to find its solution,” Modi said.
While addressing a gathering after unveiling a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Lok Bhawan here today on the former prime minister’s birth anniversary, Modi said that the people should not forget their duties towards the nation when they ask for their rights. He also laid the foundation stone for the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University in Lucknow.
He also referred article 370 as an old disease and said that it was resolved peacefully in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. “It was BJP’s responsibility as to how to face such difficult challenges so as to give a peaceful nation to our next generation,” he said.
“Similarly, the issue of Ram Janmabhoomi was also resolved peacefully. How big any challenge might be but it’s our nature to challenge to challenge,” Modi said. He also asserted and highlighted the schemes of government towards healthcare solutions. On the medical university, he said it would provide affiliation to government, semi-government and private colleges, and help in improving the quality of medical education in the State of Uttar Pradesh.
At this occasion, Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh welcomed Modi on behalf of the people and thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for installing the grand statue of Vajpayee.”Jawaharlal Nehru had once said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee will become PM one day. He was the person who only thought about national interest,” said Rajnath Singh.
