A Delta Air Lines flight crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday, but fortunately, all 80 passengers and crew survived. The plane, which arrived from Minneapolis, overturned and was left lying upside down on the snow-covered tarmac. Images shared on social media showed the plane missing at least one wing.

The crash caused critical injuries to one child, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 40s. Emergency services quickly responded, sending three air ambulances and two land ambulances to the scene. Eighteen passengers were transported to the hospital, but no fatalities occurred. Deborah Flint, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority CEO, expressed gratitude that no lives were lost.

The Federal Aviation Authority confirmed that Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, was involved. The crash occurred around 2:15 PM ET. Of the 80 people on board, 76 were passengers, and four were crew members. The airport temporarily closed after the incident, resuming flights at 5:00 PM.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford praised the first responders, while Minnesota Governor Tim Walz acknowledged the efforts of the professionals on the scene. In a statement, Toronto Pearson’s fire chief clarified that there were no adverse weather conditions like crosswinds at the time of the crash.

Despite the crash, emergency personnel’s quick response and the lack of fatalities have been highlighted. A video shared online showed passengers evacuating the overturned plane, with fire crews spraying foam over it. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident, and two runways at Toronto Pearson will remain closed for several days, causing delays and cancellations for passengers.

The crash adds to a series of aviation incidents in North America over the past month. The airport has faced weather-related challenges, with recent heavy snowstorms affecting flight schedules. Passengers stranded due to cancellations have been waiting for new flights, as weather continues to impact the region.
