Mayor, Dy Mayor visit Bhagwati Nagar to inspect sewerage treatment plant

Jammu, June 26 (HS) Continuing the drive to provide better development and basic amenities to the people of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor, alongwith Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today  conducted an extensive tour in the areas of Bhagwati Nagar and took stock of the status of the work done regarding Sewerage Treatment plant and other allied activities near the said area of ward no: 31 & 32.

Mr Parmod Kapahi, Councilor of ward no.14, Mr Satpal Karlupia, Councilor of ward no.32, Mr Sucha Singh Councilor ward no: 31, Mr Rakesh Gupta, Superintending  Engineer, Mr Ashwani Seth, Executive Engineer, Mr Rakesh Changroo AEE of UEED, representative of NBCC, Mr Ravi Salgotra Concerned Consultant & other field staff also accompanied the Mayor & Deputy Mayor during the tour.

Mayor and Deputy mayor took the status of work being done & other related network on this Sewerage Treatment plant by the UEED and told the public that about 18 number of nallahs of the Jammu city such as Pacci Dhakhi, Dhountly Nallah, Peer kho Nallah, Gujjar Nagar Nallah, D.C office nallah, Rehari Nallah, Krishan Nagar Nallah etc flowing through the city towards River Tawi and polluting  the Suraj Putri in a big way and directed the UEED to prepare a fresh DPR at the earliest  for starting a suitable project to clean the water of River Tawi as  well as these nallahas.

In the meanwhile for giving immediate relief in this regard, an Instu Bio remediation method be started on the bank of River Tawi as per the strict guidelines of NGT to protect it from getting further polluted till the permanent treatment plant be made functional, which will take another two years time, as disclosed by UEED.

Again the Engineering wing of UEED have assured that they have already on job for the treatment plant measuring 40 MLD at Beli Charana on left bank of River Tawi which will be made ready for use within three months of time positively, as the said work was delayed due to nationwide lockdown and non availability of workers. UEED further apprised the Hon’ble Mayor that more than 100 MLD capacities STP are required for covering the areas of Greater Jammu for providing underground sewerage facilities to make Jammu really a Smart City.
