Massive Fire Breaks Out on 42nd Floor of Salsette 27 in Byculla

A massive fire broke out on the 42nd floor of Salsette 27, a high-rise in Byculla, South Mumbai, on Friday morning. Flames erupted around 10:45 am in one of the twin residential towers on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. Thick black smoke billowed from the glass facade, visible from a distance.
Firefighters rushed to the scene, battling the blaze while officials from the police, BEST, ambulance services, and other agencies assisted. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
Byculla’s fire comes just a day after another blaze in Marine Lines. On February 22, flames engulfed a flat on the fifth floor of Marine Chambers, a five-story residential building near Gol Masjid. The fire damaged electrical wiring, furniture, false ceilings, and gas connections in a 2,000-square-foot apartment.
Firefighters acted quickly, evacuating stranded residents through the staircase. Officials confirmed that no one suffered injuries. The blaze was fully extinguished by 2:10 pm.
Frequent fire incidents in Mumbai highlight ongoing concerns about fire safety in high-rises. Authorities continue investigating the causes to prevent future outbreaks.
