Mashrafe Mortaza shared captaincy tips with Tamim Iqbal
London,05 May(HS): Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza shared the captaincy tips with the current one-day captain of the team, Tamim Iqbal, and said that he should listen to his heart while deciding.
Mortaza said in a conversation with Tamim Iqbal on Facebook that you as a captain listen to a lot of advice, like do it, do it, but only listen to your heart when deciding. Then you will be able to sleep comfortably even at night.
Mortaza, who stepped down from ODI captaincy in February asked Tamim to believe in himself and consider his feelings more important.
He said, “You will be sad if you have to do what other people told you. I always believe this. I will not tell you how to do your captaincy, but you should do what is in your heart. Of course, you have senior players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah to offer advice, but if you listen to the feeling of your heart, you will be more successful.”
Mashrafe further said that Bangladesh team has ‘match winning’ players and you just need to trust those players.
He said, “The reality of Bangladesh is a little different. You have to be patient. If you can understand the players and do anything for them, they will do it for you and give their best for you.”
He said that as long as you trust your ability, it does not matter what others are saying about you. Soumya, Litton and Mustafizur are your match-winning players, so if something is being said about them, you have to handle it.
