Markets Surge: Sensex jumps 600 pts, Nifty crosses 23,500

The domestic stock market opened strong today. Trading began positively, but profit booking started after 15 minutes, causing slight weakness. However, both Sensex and Nifty rebounded quickly. By 10 AM, Sensex gained 0.81%, and Nifty rose 0.78%.

Leading stocks showed mixed trends. Kotak Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation, Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, and SBI Life Insurance gained between 2.55% and 1.47%. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan Company, Infosys, Trent Limited, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories declined by 2.19% to 0.62%.

A total of 2,493 shares traded actively. Among them, 1,818 rose while 675 fell. In the Sensex, 24 out of 30 stocks advanced, and six declined. In the Nifty, 40 out of 50 stocks gained, while 10 slipped.

Sensex opened with a gain of 550.76 points at 77,456.27. Strong buying pushed it to 77,498.29 before profit booking pulled it down to 77,179.35. Renewed buying lifted it again, and by 10 AM, Sensex traded at 77,524.80, up 619.29 points.

Nifty followed a similar pattern. It opened at 23,515.40, rising 165 points. After early fluctuations, profit booking pushed it to 23,433.50. Buyers returned, lifting Nifty to 23,533.60 by 10 AM, up 183.20 points.

On Friday, the previous trading day, Sensex closed at 76,905.51, gaining 557.45 points or 0.73%. Nifty ended at 23,350.40, rising 159.75 points or 0.69%.
