Security forces in Manipur made a significant arrest recently, apprehending two active militants from the UNLF(K) and PREPAK groups. The arrested individuals have been identified as Nameirakpam Robert Meitei, also known as Thoulen, aged 26, from UNLF(K), and Mangshatabam Milanchandra Singh, known as Uhanba, aged 28, from PREPAK.

The arrests occurred in the Tengnoupal District at BP-85 under Tengnoupal police station. Both militants were taken into custody in a well-coordinated operation by the security forces. During the arrest, the authorities recovered 7,500 Kyat, the currency of Myanmar, from their possession.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the security forces in Manipur to counter insurgent activities and maintain law and order in the region. The presence of Myanmar currency on the arrested militants raises concerns about cross-border activities and the involvement of foreign elements in local insurgency movements.

The security forces are now investigating further to understand the scope of the militants’ operations and their possible links to other insurgent groups. The recovery of currency points to possible funding channels from Myanmar, which has been a source of concern for Indian authorities in border states like Manipur. The militants’ affiliations with UNLF(K) and PREPAK indicate a continued struggle with insurgent groups in the region, which have been involved in various criminal activities and violence.

Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation and are strengthening their operations to curb such activities in the future. These arrests represent a significant blow to the operations of both groups in the region.
