Mahakumbh 2025: 40 crore devotees take holy dip at Triveni Sangam

As of 10 AM today, over 42 crore devotees have taken a holy dip at Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. With 19 days remaining, the number may cross 50 crore.
Devotion and Diversity at Mahakumbh
Despite three major Amrit Snans—Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Basant Panchami—devotees continue to flock to the holy Triveni Sangam. Pilgrims from across India and the world are gathering in large numbers. Around 10 million Kalpavasis, along with sadhus and spiritual seekers, are participating in this sacred event.
Massive Turnout for Holy Dips
On Mauni Amavasya alone, over 8 crore devotees took a dip. Makar Sankranti saw 3.5 crore participants. More than 2 crore bathed on January 30 and February 1. Paush Purnima recorded 1.7 crore pilgrims, while Basant Panchami drew over 2.5 crore.
Notable Personalities Participate
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have already taken the holy dip. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet ministers also participated. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit on February 10.
Several state leaders, including Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh, and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, have bathed at the Sangam. Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Shripad Naik have also attended. MPs like Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, Sudha Murthy, and Ravi Kishan joined the religious festivities.
Celebrities and Public Figures Join the Celebrations
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal participated in the event. Poet Kumar Vishwas, cricketer Suresh Raina, international wrestler The Great Khali, and choreographer Remo D’Souza were among other prominent attendees.
With an increasing number of devotees, Mahakumbh 2025 continues to be a symbol of faith and unity.
