Police have filed 13 FIRs against 140 social media handles for spreading misleading content about the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Maha Kumbh DIG Vaibhav Krishna confirmed the action, stating that authorities are closely monitoring social media.

The Uttar Pradesh Police’s social media cell intensified surveillance after objectionable videos of women pilgrims bathing in the Triveni Sangam surfaced online. Officials are determined to prevent misinformation from disrupting the event.

With Maha Shivratri on February 26 marking the final day of Maha Kumbh, a massive crowd is expected. DIG Krishna assured that authorities have made complete arrangements to manage the rush. “We will ensure smooth traffic flow and proper crowd management, regardless of the size,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reported that 62 crore pilgrims have already taken a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam since the Maha Kumbh began on January 13. On Sunday alone, 8.7 million people participated in the ritual, according to the state’s information department.

Meanwhile, officials in Ayodhya have implemented strict crowd control measures at Ayodhya Dham railway station. Authorities aim to ensure passenger safety during the influx. DSP Yashwant Singh highlighted increased security, stating that over 350 personnel are now deployed. Barricades have been placed, and a holding area has been set up for arriving passengers.

“We are making regular train announcements to keep passengers informed. Entry is allowed only when their train arrives to prevent platform overcrowding. All necessary measures are in place,” Singh added.

With authorities on high alert, officials remain committed to maintaining order and ensuring devotees have a safe and smooth experience during the final days of the Maha Kumbh.
