Liverpool, June 12 (HS): Liverpool beat Blackburn Rovers 6–0 in a friendly match. The match was played behind closed doors at Anfield Stadium. Along with this, Liverpool have also accelerated preparations for the Premier League starting next week.
Takumi Minamino, Naby Keita, Joel Matip, Sadio Mane, Ki-Jana Hoever and Leighton Clarkson scored for Liverpool.
Liverpool’s team went into the field without their star forward Mohammed Salah and Andy Robertson.
Jurgen Klopp, the team’s manager, said via the club’s website, “We didn’t have much first-team players, so we decided to play three players for 60 minutes. It was good. It actually looked great right from the start.”
“In the first match we don’t have to show the highest level of football, but we have to show that we are ready for competition, we are ready to defend and we are also ready to find solutions,” he said.
Liverpool are on the top of the Premier League’s points table with 82 points and they are 25 points more than their second-placed team Manchester City (57).
Liverpool will begin their campaign against Everton on June 21 following the league’s cancellation due to Coronavirus and they will look to win the league again after 30 years.
