On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha praised the high voter turnout in the recent assembly polls. He emphasized that this turnout reflects the people’s enduring faith in democracy. Furthermore, he noted that the aspiration for the return to statehood remains strong among the citizens.

In his inaugural address to the newly formed legislative assembly, Sinha stated, “We gather here after the successful culmination of elections after a decade.” He highlighted that the turnout was particularly encouraging in regions that historically faced separatist sentiments and could not participate fully in the electoral process.

Despite this progress, Sinha reiterated that the desire for statehood remains a priority. He quoted Prime Minister Modi, who reaffirmed the commitment to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood as soon as possible. Sinha assured the assembly that his government would actively pursue this restoration and foster an environment conducive to development.

Moreover, he announced that the council of ministers had passed a unanimous resolution supporting the return to statehood. This resolution signifies the collective will of the stakeholders involved. Sinha urged all parties to unite and work together as a cohesive team to achieve this goal.

He acknowledged the high expectations from the government and called for full support from all stakeholders to fulfill the aspirations of the people. “My government is dedicated to empowering the citizens politically and fulfilling our promises,” he stated.

Sinha also outlined specific commitments, including a pledge to provide 200 units of electricity per household. He explained that they are currently working on the details of this initiative. Additionally, he emphasized efforts to harness the region’s hydropower resources. By the year 2026, he predicted that Jammu and Kashmir would achieve self-sufficiency in electricity.

In conclusion, Sinha’s address set a positive tone for the future, stressing the importance of unity and commitment in realizing the hopes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. His government aims to create a prosperous environment for all citizens, keeping statehood aspirations at the forefront of their agenda.
