Launch of Telangana state SHE Teams Whatsapp Number.

Telangana/Hyderabad, Jan 29 (HS): A ‘She Team’ awareness program was conducted at Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad in which nearly about 600 student doctors have participated.  The Session was inaugurated by the chief guest Swati Lakra, IPS IGP L&O, and WSW, TS, Hyderabad.

The staff of ‘She Team’ of Women Safety Wing performed a skit on gender discrimination. Nagamani, I/c. Principal Dr. Suleman, Vice Principal of Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad and Dr. P. Sravan Kumar, Supdt. Gandhi Hospital addressed the student-doctors about the principals to be inherited towards respect to women and the role of parents in building up the society.

The Chindu, an NGO Organization conducted awareness on gender sensation through Forum Theatre. An interactive session was also held. The students of Gandhi Medical College also participated in the skit performed by the Chindu organization and SHE Teams. Participants were urged to discuss the steps to be taken in case of sexual harassment at the workplace. Student doctors also came up with solutions on how to handle such situations.

Sumathi, IPS SP, WSW, Ts addressed the students on how to be safe and secure and how to use the services of Police in case of an emergency. During the session, chief guest Swati Lakra, IPS launched the Telangana State‘She Team Whatsapp Number +91-9441669988’which is a ‘NON-EMERGENCY’ number and will be handled by the Women Safety Wing.

The chief guest addressed the student-doctors and informed that She Teams is working to make Telangana more secure for Women and Children. The working of SHE Teams was also explained in detail. She has requested the students not to suffer in silence and to be bold and mentally strong to report any sought of harassment by using various services of the police.

Services of Mobile applications like HAWK Eye may be used while traveling which has got the SOS button for emergency. The SOS button also works without an internet facility and will get directly linked to Dial-100. Students were told that ‘SHE’ Teams is working continuously for your safety and people should feel free to approach at any time.

In the days to come a volunteer program would also be extended to Gandhi Medical College. A committee of students and facilities would be part of the committee (Safety Clubs) and would act as a bridge between Women Safety Wing and the college. G. Rajaratnam, DSP DC Module, D. Pratap, DSP Bharosa Module,  K.Venkat Reddy, DSP She Team Module and inspectors from Women Safety wing were also present at the session.
