Kolkata hosts International Bengali Conference.
Kolkata, 29 January (HS): A three day ‘International Bengali Conference’ was organized here this week to discuss various aspects of the growth and development of Bengali culture and literature, besides its journey towards the transformation into the digital age.
Organized for the first time in the city by ‘Bangla Worldwide’ from 25 January at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre here, the program was participated by hots of dignitaries from all over the state and Bangladesh including Mustafa Jabbar, the Telecommunication Minister of Bangladesh, Justice Chittatosh Mookerjee, former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court and Chairman of Bangla Worldwide, Vice-Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) Saikat Maitra and renowned vocalist Pandit Ajay Chakraborty among several others.
Speaking on the occasion while the Bangladeshi minister elaborated on the gradual transformation of his country into a Digital enabled nation and said it was possible because of the high merit of Bengali speaking people, Justice Mukherjee highlighted the importance of holding such an international conference of Bengalis speaking people every year.
Also speaking on the occasion and later participating in a panel discussions on “Trends in Technology Education and Collaboration in Technology Development” and “Trend in Media Industry/Infotainment– Digital Journalism is a Shift in News Reporting,” Dr. Maitra underlined different aspects of technical education and referred to the importance of cooperation at the international level in terms of digital journalism.
Among others, Professor Debanjan Banerjee of NSHM along with Ayanangshu Banerjee and Pradeep Chopra of iLead spoke on the occasion and emphasized the creation of new jobs in order to utilize the manpower in every sphere and achieve economic development. The three-day event was sponsored by MAKAUT
