Khelo India athletes delivered standout performances at the 38th National Games in Dehradun. A total of 542 athletes won medals in 20 sports, while 33 medallists from 11 disciplines emerged from Khelo India Centres (KICs), proving the success of grassroots development.
The Khelo India scheme continues to shape India’s sporting future. Currently, 2,781 athletes across 21 sports benefit from the program. Each athlete receives ₹6.28 lakh per year, including a ₹10,000 monthly allowance, to support training.
SAI’s structured scouting system plays a crucial role. Olympians, coaches, and NSF representatives identify talent at various competitions. Selected athletes train at Khelo India-accredited academies, KISCEs, and NCoEs, receiving expert coaching, sports science support, and nutrition guidance.
This program has helped Indian athletes shine at global events, including the Asian Games, World Championships, and the Olympics.
