Keshav Maurya suspends two officials of Bridge Corporation

PRAYAGRAJ, April 16 (HS): In a tragic incident, a cyclist died after an iron girder of an under-construction railway bridge fell on him under Saini police station of Sirathu in Kaushambi on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Jagdish (50) son of Hajari Lal and resident of Chak Manikpur under Saini police station of Kaushambi. The bridge is being constructed by Uttar Pradesh Setu Nigam (Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation).

The incident invited the ire of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya. Sirathu in Kaushambi is incidentally his ancestral home. He immediately ordered a high level probe into the incident and said that those responsible for the incident will not be spared. Meanwhile, two officials of Uttar Pradesh Setu Nigam were suspended with immediate effect. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya immediately tweeted that two officials prima facie found negligent in performing their duties were suspended and a high level investigation into the incident has been ordered to zero in on those responsible. In the tweet, he clarified that the government is committed to ensure development and security of people and such acts will not be tolerated. Those responsible for negligence will be dealt strictly.
