Thiruvananthapuram,19 November(HS): Islamists have spread their wings in Kerala?s Kollam district after establishing their superiority in the Northern parts of the State. Extremists belonging to the dreaded Popular Front of India (PFI) have warned the Hindus in Thazhava near Karunagappalli in Kollam district not to go ahead with the construction of a Maha Ganapathi Temple which is coming up in the semirural landscape.

A letter received by the temple construction committee warns that all Hindus in the area who are associated with the project would face the fate of ?sheep meant for sacrifice?.

The PFI has said that no places of worship and business ventures belonging to non-Muslims would be allowed in a radius of 12 km from the local Juma Masjid at Thazhava.

?This is our territory and no non-Muslim worship centres or business establishments by Hindus would be allowed here. If you are violating this directive, we will annihilate all persons who are associated with these ventures,? warns the letter received by a local RSS functionary.

Prakash, a local RSS leader told Hindustan Samachar that the Islamic terrorists were operating in the area since 1983 itself. ?Though we had informed the Governments from time to time about their threats and activities, no action has been taken against them. This is not to be seen as a threat to RSS. The entire Hindu society in the region is being threatened by them. The temple construction was launched to install an ancient idol of Maha Ganapathi which was worshipped from time immemorial under a banyan tree. But the Islamists would not allow us to go ahead with the construction,? said Prakash.

Kollam district is home to Abdul Nazar Madhani, a terrorist leader who was behind the 1996 serial blasts in Coimbatore which killed more than 100 persons. The DMK Government led by M Karunanidhi that was in power in Tamil Nadu at that time did not take any serious efforts to nail Madhani and the local court which heard the case acquitted him of all charges. L K Advani, BJP?s leader, was to address a public meeting at the place where the bomb blasts occurred and he had a providential escape.

Though Madhani was acquitted of all charges in the case, he is facing a series of criminal and terrorist activities cases in Bangalore. Madhani has a major Islamic establishment at Karunagappalli that trains future Jihadis and terrorists in weaponry, Islamic laws and Quran. Known among the cadre as Usthad, Madhani is into big-time religious conversion business with the aid of millions of petrodollars reaching his Centre.
