Kenneth visit to Tawang “highlights resolute U.S. support for Indian sovereignty

This is the second such visit by a US envoy to Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier, in 2016, the then US envoy Richard Verma visited the north eastern state which caused tension between New Delhi and Beijing.

New Delhi, Oct.31 (HS): Washington on Wednesday said that US Envoy’s Kenneth Juster’s visit to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh “highlights resolute U.S. support for Indian sovereignty.”

U.S. funding supports joint public health and social sciences work in #Arunachal by @USouthFlorida and Rajiv Gandhi University. AGW,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Alice Wells.

This is the second such visit by a US envoy to Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier, in 2016, the then US envoy Richard Verma visited the north eastern state which caused tension between New Delhi and Beijing.
“Such an honor to be Chief Guest at the Tawang Festival and inaugurate the seventh edition of this wonderful celebration. #USIndiaDosti,” said Kenneth Juster after inaugurating Tawang Festival.

He also visited Sera Jey Monastery and Urgelling Gompa at Tawang where the Sixth Dalai Lama was born.

China claims a large part of Arunachal Pradesh to be its part and calls it as South Tibet. However, this time China has not officially protested at Juster’s visit to the state, it may be noted.
