Karnataka: Free bus service for Migrant workers for two more days
Bengaluru,04 May(HS): The Chief Minister BS. Yediyurappa today announced that free bus service for migrant labourers, which is operating smoothly, is being extended for two more days.
In a press release, he said that this service was scheduled to Tuesday 05 May. But for the convenience of migrant workers and others, this facility is extended till Thursday, 07 May. He appealed to the travellers to follow social distancing and abide by the protocol set for this service.
On Sunday 03 May, 951 KSRTC buses were provided and around 30,000 people have travelled to their places.
Today already, around 1,500 passengers have started. As many as 550 buses from Bengaluru and 400 buses in other cities of the state have been provided for this purpose.
Around 16,500 passengers have returned to their places in 550 buses, on Saturday 02 May. On Sunday, 2 trains have left for Patna in Bihar and one each for Ranchi in Jharkhand and Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. These four trains have transported 4,800 passengers to these states.
Today 2 trains will leave to Jaipur in Rajasthan and Patna in Bihar.
Free food and drinking water have been provided to all the passengers, he said in the release.
