Karnataka Assembly Speaker bans media persons from entering Assembly lobbies
Bengaluru, 09 March (HS): The State Assembly Speaker, Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri, has banned entry of media persons to both lobbies of the Assembly.
It may be recollected here that the Speaker has already barred the private TV channel camera crew from covering the proceedings of both houses of the state legislature.
A lot of hue and cry was raised by the media persons and opposition parties against the Speaker’s decision but the Speaker refused to budge and the decision prevailed.
The Speaker has directed the private TV channels to make use of the live footage being telecast by the government owned DD Chandana TV channel.
Meanwhile, the Speaker passed another order banning the entry of media persons to the Legislators Home.
Although BS Yediyurappa, Chief Minister had assured the media of lifting the ban against the private TV channels, the assurance has failed to materialize so far and instead two new bans have been brought into force.
