Bengaluru,18 July(HS): The Karnataka state Assembly was adjourned till 3 pm amidst pandemonium over prolonged discussions over the point of order.

HD Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister moved the motion seeking a vote of confidence in his government in the house when it reassembled for the day.

After moving the motion, while he was trying to chide BS Yeddyurappa, leader of the opposition for being in a hurry to take up the vote of confidence motion for voting and had just started making some references over the same but was intervened by Siddaramaiah, leader of the Congress legislature party.

Although KR Rameshkumar, the speaker allowed the member to raise his point of order, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) members resisted the move and protested that there was no point of order as far as a vote of confidence motion was concerned.

Siddaramaiah’s grouse was that he, in spite of being a leader of the Congress legislature party(CLP) was not made a party in the petition involving the resignation of 15 JDS and INC MLAs’.

As the leader of the CLP, Siddaramaiah contented of being very much within his rights to issue whip to party legislators to attend the Assembly proceedings. But the apex court has ruled that all the 15 legislators who have resigned need to be compelled to attend the house, he lamented.

He, after enough objections by the opposition party members, made a prolonged reference and finally demanded that the issue of deciding over issuing a whip should be resolved first before taking up the subject of a vote of confidence.

After angry exchanges between the ruling and opposition party members the speaker adjourned the proceedings of the lower house till 3 pm.
