Karnataka: 15 newly elected MLAs’ sworn in
Bengaluru,22 December(HS): Thirteen newly elected lawmakers were today sworn in as Members of the state Legislative Assembly at Vidhana Soudha,the administrative headquarters of the state government here.
Among these 13 legislators included 12 ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and one Independent members. Two Indian National Congress(INC) MLAs’ stayed away from the swearing in function.
All the newly elected legislators took oath of office in the presence of Vishveshwar Hegade Kageri, Speaker of the state Assembly.
BS Yeddyurappa, Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues were seated in the audience along with other party leaders, admirers and followers of new MLAs’.
Usually the swearing in of newly elected legislators takes place in the chambers of the Assembly Speaker in such circumstances while the same is done in the Legislative Assembly soon after the new lower house is constituted following general elections.
Maybe taking into account the huge number of followers gathering to grace the occasion, the swearing in ceremony is being held at the Vidhana Soudha, a stone marvel built by Kengal Hanumanthaiah during his tenure as the then Mysuru state chief minister.
The new BJP MLAs’ who were sworn in today are:
1.Mahesh Kumatalli-Athani in Belagavi district.
2.Shrimant Patil-Kagwad in Belagavi district.
3.Ramesh Jharkiholi-Gokak in Belagavi district.
4.K Shivaram Hebbar-Yellapur in Karwar district.
5.Anandsingh-Vijaynagar in Ballari district.
6.BC Patil-Hirekerur in Haveri district.
7.Arunkumar-Ranebennur in Haveri district.
8.BA Basavraj-KR Puram in Bengaluru district.
9.Gopalaiah-Mahalakshmi Layout in Bengaluru district.
10.Dr K Sudhakar-Chikkaballapur in the same district.
11.ST Somasekhar-Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru district.
12.K Narayangowda- KR Pet in Mandya district.
13.Sharat Bachegowda-Independent from Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural district.
