J&K: Restrictions on sale of tobacco in vicinity of educational institutions
DDC reviews the implementation of National Tobacco Control Programme for Doda District
Doda, June 09 (HS): With an aim to minimise the menace of rampant utilisation of tobacco and its impact on the budding generation in particular and on public health in general, DDC Doda Dr Sagar D Doifode reviewed the implementation of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) for Doda District in a meeting with various officers.
CMO, Doda thoroughly discussed the issue in detail, in the meeting and put light about the ill effects of growing tobacco consumption affecting the various age groups in the district.
After a threadbare discussion DDC Doda declared all the Govt and education premises as no smoking zones and put restrictions on the sale of the tobacco in the vicinity of educational institutions with immediate effect.
Besides, the concerned authorities were directed to impose penalties in case of violation of the order, for which challan books were already circulated with the officers, while in case any vendor seems to be violating the orders action will be taken against them within 24 hours under rule.
Moreover, DDC directed the CEO and CMO Doda to constitute micro teams at tehsil level to conduct awareness camps in public domain and in educational institutions, to aware the students and general public about the hazardous impact of tobacco consumption, and also told them to organise seminars, debate competition, painting programs, rallies for mass level awareness about the issue.
Further, DDC directed the authorities of the health department to conduct health check up for all class fourth safai karamcharis, employees of district and SPOs and constable of police department and desired the strict compliance of the direction on this part from every district/Sectoral officer.
