ITC sets up Contingency fund of Rs 150 crores to fight COVID-19

Kolkata, 27 March (HS): In addition to its efforts over the past few weeks through several initiatives to deal with the present pandemic, ITC Limited, the Kolkata headquartered leading multinational conglomerate company, here today announced its decision to set up a special Contingency Fund of Rs 150 crores ‘to address and manage the challenges arising out of this adversity’.
Informing this company sources told Hindusthan Samachar here this afternoon that this fund apart from being utilised to provide relief to the vulnerable and most needy sections of the society who had been harshly impacted by the pandemic and faced significant disruption in their livelihoods, would collaborate with every district authorities in the state and other parts of the country to provide assistance to the rural healthcare ecosystem that reached out to the weakest sections of society. 
 it is also envisaged that the resources under this fund will be channelised towards the protection and well being of the ground forces who had been doing commendable jobs to reach medicines, groceries and other essential goods to the people across the country during the locked down by providing protective personal gear and hygiene products to such frontline warriors, the sources said.
‘In these trying times, we are working with state authorities and local administration to ensure that manufacturing and distribution activities continue uninterrupted with bare minimum people. While we practice restraint and social isolation as a group, we will continue to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees, workforce and value chain partners. ITC is committed to support the Government’s efforts and play its part in fighting this pandemic with compassion and resilience.
