IT raid against former finance minister of JK
New Delhi, Jun.27 (HS): The Income Tax Department, today, launched raids on properties of Hilal Rather, the son of former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather, in relation to an alleged loan misappropriation and tax evasion case, spokesperson of IT department, Surabhi Ahluwalia said.
Abdul Rahim Rather is a senior leader of National Conference (NC) leader. However, related raids have been conducted against eight properties located in Srinagar, Delhi and Ludhiana, and income tax sleuths are looking for evidence and documents, the officials said.
It is told by department that the case belongs to alleged misappropriation of loans taken from the J&K Bank by Hilal and persons linked to him. Hilal’s father was the finance minister in the NC government.
The transactions at the bank are already on probe agency radar so resultantly this raid.
