Intra Front shadow boxing in LDF as Christians worried over Love Jihad
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (March 31, HS): The CPI(M) led LDF in Kerala is facing disintegration faster than expected. The Kerala Congress (Mani) faction that joined the LDF is anguished and upset over the procrastination of the CPI(M) in front of Islamist radicals.
The first signs of the Mani Group’s discontentment came out in the open when the CPI(M) leadership, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, publicly snubbed Jose K Mani, leader of the KC(M) for the latter’s public outburst against Love Jihad.
More than two thousand Christian girls from the State have eloped with Muslim boys who had promised to marry them after they get converted to Islam. But what happened is that most of them were sold as sex slaves like the Hindu girls who too had eloped with the Islamist Romeos. A Catholic girl Jesna’s disappearance is yet to be resolved by the police in Kerala and this led to Jose K Mani’s comments about the dangers of Love Jihad.
Pinarayi Vijayan, whose daughter Veena dumped her Hindu husband and married a Muslim youth by name Mohammed Riyaz, too is a victim of Love Jihad. It is an open secret in Kerala that Mohammed Riyaz is the one who wields real power in the State. Under instruction from Riyaz, Vijayan asked Mani to retract from the statement which the latter obliged. Kanam Rajendran, yet another courtesan in Pinarayi’s court too lambasted Jose K Mani for speaking out of turn and telling the truth in public.
Taken aback by the chief minister’s bending backwards to please the Muslims, a dejected Jose K Mani is reported to have held a parley with his close followers and the bishops. They counselled him not to do anything in a hurry and wait till the elections get over. Chances are that the Kerala Congress (M) cadre are unlikely to cast their votes in favour of CPI(M) and CPI candidates in the April 6 election.
One cannot rule out the possibility of KC(M) joining the BJP after the assembly election. Jose K Mani is only bothered about the number of MLAs from his party who would make it to the council of ministers to be formed after the election. In the eventuality of a hung assembly in Kerala, chances are that many small outfits like KC(M) and Muslim League would join the BJP though the leaders of these parties deny such a development as of now. In politics, tomorrow is another day and anything can happen in the alliances.
