Internet shutdown in 11 districts of UP, 3600 cases booked in Ghaziabad.
Lucknow, Dec 21(HS): The death toll in this violence has now increased to nine. According to the information received, four people have died in Meerut, two each in Varanasi, Kanpur, Bijnor, and Sambhal. While in Firozabad, a person died. Apart from this, about three dozen people have also been injured.
Fifteen people have been arrested in connection with the violence in Daryaganj in Old Delhi during a protest against the new citizenship law, police have said the morning after 40 people were detained, leading to massive crowd build-up outside the police station demanding their release.
An FIR has been registered against 14 identified people in Jaunpur. An FIR has been registered against 125 unidentified people. An FIR has been registered against 27 people in Bhadohi. The administration restored Internet services in 21 districts as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of rumors and messages promoting violence. Also, schools, colleges, and universities across the state have been closed on Saturday.
