International Short Fiction Film Festival begins in Katakana

Kolkata, 4 December (HS): Altogether 86 award winning short fiction films from over 27 countries around the world will be screened during the five day ‘International Short Fiction Film Festival- 2019’ which began here last night in presence of a huge gathering of the city’s film buffs.
Being organised by one of the leading film societies of Kolkata called ‘Kalpanirjhar Foundation’ in association with Goethe Institute, the Max Muller Bhavan and the ‘Caring Minds’ of Patton Group,    the festival would showcase a rich variety of high quality short films from various countries around the world with their show timing varying between only two minutes and 20 minutes each. 
Among the  award winning films which would be screened during the five day event,to be continued till 7 December at Nandan,are ‘The death of Don Quixote – 12 minures – the UK, Best Day Ever – 15 minutes – Tunisia, From Scratch – 12 minutes – the USA, Freddie – 14 minutes – Spain, Follower- 9 minutes – Germany,  Burqa City- 15 minutes – France,Gloria- 7 minutes – Mexico,  Underground Tales- 14 minutes – India and many others from several other countries.
In the ‘International selection’ of the total 86 movies, there would be 32 films. Of them as many as 15 are Indian movies which would compete for the Patton award for the Best film,said festival Chairman and well known film Director Arindam Sil. 
Those who were present at the inaugural ceremony last night also included Kalpanirjhar Foundation Chairman and renowned film maker Gautam Ghosh, Sanjay Budhia,MD, Patton Group, Jurgen Thomas Schrod, Deputy Consul General of Germany in Kolkata, Friso Maecker, Director of Goethe-Institute,Damiano Francovigh, Consul General of Italy in Kolkata and  Virginie Corteval, Consul General of France in Kolkata’.
