International seminar on agricultural sustainability held
PRAYAGRAJ, April 12 (HS): The online two-day international seminar on “Agriculture sustainability for doubling income in changing climate scenario and challenges during Covid-19” was concluded at the Guest House of Allahabad University which was jointly organized by the Indian Sugarcane Research Lucknow, Attari, Kanpur, Allahabad University, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, RS Agricultural Research Institute and Susanskriti. Dr. Atar Singh, Director, ICAR-Attari Kanpur was the Chief Guest.
In this two days seminar academicians, senior scientists, departmental heads, directors of seven ICAR institutions and state universities like Punjab, Haryana, Nagaland, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan shared their views and gave technical suggestions for agriclture sustainability and doubling farmer’s income.
The Member of Parliament from Phoolpur Kesari Devi Patel was the chief guest of the closing ceremony of the seminar. She said that farmers, who are the backbone of the country and academicians and scientists have an important role in strengthening the farmers. She said to do more research on agricultural sustainability.
While conducting the program, Organizing Secretary Dr. Ramachandra gave lectures on the subject of changing and weather and fluctuations in prices in the market and emphasized on stabilization in prices. Dr. A.P. Dwivedi, Chief Scientist of Sugarcane Research presented his research paper on the use of minimum water in sugarcane cultivation. Dr. Rajnarayan from Jodhpur presented the idea of increasing production with the technology used in agriculture and vegetables. Prof. Amod Sharma of Nagaland apprised the various dimensions of bamboo production for doubling the income of farmers.
20 awards were also given at the ceremony which included five eminent scientist awards, three excellence in education awards, two excellence in research awards, four outstanding awards, eight lifetime achievement awards and three best paper presentation awards. Dr. Ramachandra proposed vote of thanks.
