Indian woman given imprisonment for smuggling
Washington/New Delhi, July. 19 (HS) : In the US, an Indian-origin woman has been given sentence of three-year imprisonment for human trafficking. The woman is alleged to have brought hundreds of people to the US without documents. This woman has been fined more than 7 million dollars.
The woman has been identified as Hema Patel. Hema used to to smuggle people in exchange, she used to recover 28,000 dollar to 60000 dollar from each. In 2018 June, Hema confessed to the intention of entering into the US by staging an assault.
Angel Melange, Officer of Homeland Security investigation said, “This is an example of how criminal networks misuse the deficiencies in the immigration system of our country threatening national security of the US.”
Hema Patel and her human smuggling co-conspirators prepared fraudulent bond documents to secure the release of undocumented aliens that were smuggled through the southwest border by an international criminal network”.
