Indian Army contingent departs for Indonesia to join ‘Garuda Shakti’ exercise

An Indian Army contingent of 25 personnel has departed for Jakarta to join Indonesia’s Special Forces, Kopassus, in the 9th Exercise ‘Garuda Shakti’. This joint exercise, running until November 12, includes 40 Indonesian personnel. It aims to deepen cooperation and strengthen bonds between the two forces through shared tactical drills and operational discussions.

The focus of ‘Garuda Shakti’ is to enhance interoperability, develop mutual understanding, and share knowledge on weapons, equipment, and advanced tactics. Training will cover special operations planning, jungle warfare, terrorist camp assaults, and joint exercises, blending basic and advanced skills.

This collaboration promotes not only military cooperation but also cultural exchange, supporting shared security goals and reinforcing bilateral ties between India and Indonesia.
