India hits back, exposes alleged terror plot against Nijjar
India has firmly denied Canadian media reports alleging its involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was aware of the supposed assassination plot but rejected the claims as baseless.
The MEA criticized the reports, calling them “ludicrous” and urged their dismissal with “the contempt they deserve.” Officials stressed that such allegations further damage already strained relations between India and Canada. Tensions between the two nations have been rising due to concerns over extremism and anti-India activities in Canada.
India accused Canada of harboring extremist elements and reiterated its denial of involvement in Nijjar’s death. The report alleged that senior officials, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, were informed about the plot.
This controversy follows India recalling six diplomats from Canada earlier this month. The move came amidst investigations into Nijjar’s death, which has added to the diplomatic strain between the two countries.
Through firm denials and sharp criticism, India aims to counter these allegations while highlighting concerns about extremism on Canadian soil.
