India and Bangladesh mark 53 years of Vijay Diwas

India and Bangladesh will commemorate the 53rd anniversary of Vijay Diwas today. This day marks the end of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, which led to the liberation of Bangladesh (then East Pakistan).

The celebrations include an exchange of war veterans and serving officers between the two countries. Eight Indian war veterans and two serving officers have arrived in Dhaka to join the Victory Day events. In return, eight distinguished Muktijoddhas and two serving officers from Bangladesh have reached Kolkata for the Vijay Diwas celebrations. This annual exchange highlights the strong friendship and cooperation between India and Bangladesh.

Vijay Diwas is a momentous day for both nations. It honors the bravery and sacrifice of their soldiers, who achieved a decisive victory in the war. The day also serves as a reminder of the shared history and bond between these two neighboring countries.
