Imran Khan dhuts door on talks, dialogue with Govt end

Imran Khan has rejected any possibility of talks with the Shahbaz Sharif government once again. His party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has now ended hopes of reconciliation with the government. Senior PTI leader Umar Ayub Khan confirmed this decision. He said, “The phase of dialogue is now over.”
Ayub emphasized that political dialogue is not a mere formality. It requires commitment and determination, qualities that the government lacked. He criticized the government for not showing seriousness in the talks. PTI had entered discussions with good intentions but soon realized the government’s lack of will to engage. This failure caused the talks to break down.
The collapse of the dialogue follows months of stalled negotiations. PTI and the government had initiated talks in December 2024. However, now, PTI refuses to continue these discussions. The party has withdrawn due to the government’s failure to form a judicial commission. PTI had demanded this commission to investigate the May 9 riots and the November protests that year.
Ayub’s comments reflect the frustration within PTI. The party had hoped for a breakthrough in the talks. However, the government’s inability to address key issues led PTI to declare the dialogue process over. The strained relationship between the two sides remains a significant issue in Pakistan’s political landscape.
This marks a crucial point in the ongoing political crisis. PTI’s withdrawal from talks signals the end of efforts for a negotiated solution. With no further talks on the horizon, the situation remains tense.
