Sydney, 5 March (HS): The Indian women’s team are qualified for the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time. Rain washed out the first semifinal between India and England at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday.
It had been raining since morning in the Sydney and it showed no sings of slowing down or stop. Due to that, the umpires and the match referee decided to call off play.
Team India advanced to final because of their higher standing at the end of the group matches. India finished at the top of group A, winning all their four matches. While, England finished at No. 2 with three victories in the group stage matches.
Four-time champions Australia are scheduled to take on South Africa later in the second semi-final, with that match is also expected to washed out.
With no reserve day, the top teams from both the groups move into final if play is not possible. So, it is expected that it will be India vs South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
