Himanta–Congress clash deepens over AI video and Pakistan link allegations in Assam

A sharp political confrontation has unfolded in Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Congress leadership now face each other in a high-stakes battle. The dispute centers on an AI-generated video and fresh allegations of “deep links” with Pakistan. As elections approach, the conflict has intensified.

First, the controversy began with a social media post by the Assam BJP unit. The post featured an AI-generated video. It showed Chief Minister Sarma aiming a rifle and firing at images of two men wearing skull caps. The caption read “point blank shot.” The video also carried political slogans. Soon after, public outrage followed. The party deleted the post. However, the damage had already spread.

Next, the Opposition reacted strongly. Congress leaders condemned the video. They called it disturbing and dangerous. They said it appeared to glorify violence against minorities. They warned that such content could incite hatred. Party leaders argued that senior political figures must take responsibility. Therefore, they demanded strict action and accountability.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma shifted the focus. He called a press conference in Guwahati. He released documents and made serious claims. He accused Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi of secretly visiting Pakistan in 2013. He alleged that Gogoi may have received training there. He said Gogoi failed to inform Indian authorities about the trip.

Moreover, Sarma named a Pakistani national, Ali Tauqeer Sheikh. He alleged that Gogoi, his wife, and Sheikh shared close ties. He claimed that a Pakistani firm employed Elizabeth and paid her salary through Sheikh. He demanded a central agency probe into the matter.

However, Gaurav Gogoi rejected all accusations. He described the Chief Minister’s press conference as “worse than a C-grade cinema.” He called it misleading and baseless. He said the event aimed to divert attention from real issues. He accused the government of spreading false narratives.

At the same time, Gogoi raised the land controversy. He referred to alleged illegal occupation of nearly 12,000 bighas by the Chief Minister’s family. He claimed that Congress exposed this issue through its “Xomoy Parivartan Yatra.” According to him, the government revived old allegations to counter this campaign.
