Haryana Police arrested a suspect on Monday in connection with Congress worker Himani Narwal’s murder. A police official confirmed the arrest and said investigations are ongoing.

Narwal’s body was found inside a suitcase near Sampla bus stand on the Rohtak-Delhi highway on March 1. Her body bore injury marks, raising suspicions of foul play.

On Sunday, police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder of the 23-year-old. Four teams of Rohtak Police worked to track down the culprits.

Narwal lived in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak. She actively participated in Congress activities and joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. She was pursuing a law degree and had been with the party for nearly a decade. Her dedication often kept her working late hours, her mother said.

Her family refused to cremate her until all culprits were arrested. Her mother, Savita, alleged political jealousy might have played a role in the murder. She suspected party members envied Narwal’s rapid rise. Accompanied by her son Jatin, she demanded justice.

Savita last spoke to Narwal on February 27. Narwal mentioned she would be busy with a party program the next day. Soon after, her phone went silent. By Saturday afternoon, the family received news of her murder.

Savita recalled another tragedy—the murder of her elder son years ago. “I didn’t get justice then. I won’t let this happen again,” she said.

The case has sparked outrage. Congress leaders called Narwal a dedicated worker. Her family remains firm in their demand for justice, refusing to perform last rites until all accused are behind bars.

The investigation continues as police track other suspects involved in the case.
